christmas without you

All year long,

we plough through our schedules,

we talk on the phone, never for too long

then life sends us back to our different avenues

Until December returns,

with her lights, her bells and christmas charm

life slows down somewhat,

I reread every word in your card

I recall the feel of your hand

I remember your voice singing 'joy to the world'

and I wish with all my heart,

that we were not apart.

It is so hard being without you all year through

and harder still, to have Christmas without you.
